Development of a National Eco-Labeling Approach for Cosmetics and Personal Care Products
and Establishment of an Information Transfer Platform project has been coordinating by BU-SDCPC started from October 2015. Main targets of this project are to comprise a national standardization for personal care products and cosmetics industry, to provide added value of the products and to improve the information and technology level of economic applications and raise the global competition locally and globally.

In 2023 Turkey Export Strategy and Action Plan, Ministry of Economy stated a strategic target for export, which aims increasing the knowledge of exporters about eco-labeling approach and providing products’ compliance with environmental standards and regulations. In this target, it is also indicated that eco-labeled products procure competitive advantage while accessing to markets, as a result investors will make profit in the long run. Within the scope of this point, an information transfer platform will be established and will provide service for all producers, retailer, related public institutions, civil society organizations (cso) and consumers. Additionally, the application of eco labeling approach to cosmetics and personal care products industry will lead to increase Turkey’s export capacity. Raise awareness, create a checklist, and ensure the continuation of the system by regular auditing are the additional targets of the proposed project.
